My name is Alice Hawke.
Welcome to my world!

'The time has come,' the walrus said, 'to talk of many things: of shoes and ships - and sealing wax - of cabbages and kings.' (Lewis Carroll)

When Alice went down the rabbit hole, her experiences took many forms, all revolving around conversation (and tea). Even though it seemed to be chaotic, it all led to her truth... that she needed to make her own decision about living at her highest potential, doing what she loved.

I felt more than a shared name with the Alice in Wonderland character. Like Alice, I believed in a fuzzy kind of truth that existed somewhere outside of normal. I had an idea that, if everyone in the world was doing what they loved to do, the energy on the planet would shift dramatically. Here's where I discovered the huge disconnect for me: Who am I and, when that question has an answer, how did that fit into what I wanted to do? It all became curiouser and curiouser.

My generation had a clear path for women. Find a husband to support you. Or, if that failed, become a nurse, a teacher, a secretary or a bookkeeper. Although I tried many of those things (including husbands), none of them gave me a sense of achievement. In these pursuits, however, I did find the key to my search. I realized that in each of these acceptable careers there was a requisite attention to detail. Detail eluded me most of the time. I loved having people in my life who could tell me that I had my shirt on backwards before I ventured out into the world.

Acknowledging that I lacked an interest in detail, led me to realize that, as much as we credit one person for most acheivements, nobody really does anything totally on their own. There is absolutely nothing achieved without meticulous attention to detail. Neither is anything achieved without focus on the whole picture and the ability to stay flexible in the process. In other words, nothing actually becomes accomplished without a team.

Teamwork was a familiar term. I began to see it in a different light. I saw that, in order to make teams function at their highest potential, each team member must be given equal value. Together, in unity, humanity is capable of creating one whole beautiful picture. When one skill is given a different value than the other, the person with the skill having a lower value, gives less energy to the project.

During one long trip down my rabbit hole, I began exploring the healing philosophies of ancient times. In ancient philosophies like chakras and tarot, there is no hierarchy in values or energies. There is a focus on a balance of physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual energies. In my working hypothesis, a business arrangement needs to build balanced teams with equal value to each member. Do I know how to do this? No... but I believe it is possible.

Sometimes I've believed as many as six
impossible things before breakfast.
(Lewis Carroll).
